A possible reason for it is WhatsApp has not refreshed the contacts. That could be the reason for a particular contact for not showing up in the WhatsApp contact list. The solution for this is very simple and this is the method that helped me to fix the issue. Here is the solution:
- Open WhatsApp.
- Click on the contact or chat icon present in the bottom right corner of the screen.
- Then, Tap on 3 dots in the top right corner of the screen.
- Click "Refresh" from the options shown.
This may possibly make the missing contact to appear in the contacts list.
Other Possible Solutions:-
- Make sure that WhatsApp has given contact permission. You can check it by going to the phone's settings>Apps>Whatsapp>Permissions.
- Make sure that you have a working internet connection.
- Make sure that the missing contact has WhatsApp account.
